@RantyHighwayman Can't help but wonder if making these old filters more accessible for active travel would make them more useful for emergency services rather than them ending up being obstructed by parking? https://t.co/VnM0fmd91w
Freshly installed (March 2021) dropped kerb linking the new shared path towards the Sharphill Development unfortunately gaining a very obstructive barrier :(
Standard obstructive barriers along the Grantham Canal, plus additional desire path to the right, complete with bollard.
Narrow paths either side of the A6011 crossing on a curve in the road, no markings to indicate people are crossing on this busy road
Standard obstructive barriers along the Grantham Canal (gate is usual closed, but as this is an access route to a dwelling it can occasionally be open)
Obstructive barriers on the tram-side path, modified within weeks of construction as they were preventing access by people using non-standard bikes
Recently installed Cycle Lanes on Melton Road - post in on pavement cycle path (which links to the Toucan used by east-west traffic crossing Melton Road) is presumably going to be signing the start of one cycle route by obstructing another ... [more]
Unnecessary conflict-causing barriers (the second of two pairs) here - wide enough apart they totally fail to stop mopeds, close enough together they make it difficult for cyclists towing a child-trailer to pass. A bollard or two would suf ... [more]
Newly widened path to the right of the fork. To the left the handrails have recently been installed as part of the Arena redevelopment, needed for walkers but an obstruction for cyclists - especially as the path to the left will be Route 5 ... [more]
While the replacement of the previous chicane here with a simple bollard is very welcome, being located in the shadows with no street lighting doesn't make this bollard very visible - especially bad heading from Beedling and turning right a ... [more]
The previous awkward barriers on this path have been replaced with a simple bollard. :) Shame the one lamp post left on the path (due to lack of space) is so close to the bollard making a nasty pinch point right at a point where pedestrian ... [more]
Recently widened path has also seen the lamposts moved back out of the path itself, and not only that they have been set back enough to actually make that useful. The increased number of streetlights should also improve visibility in the w ... [more]
Route 5 will go left here - forward visibility is poor here due to substation fence on the left and overgrowing plants on both sides (causing oncoming cyclists to be in the middle of the road). Requires maintenance to be kept on top of - u ... [more]
Future Route 5's crossing of the busy Compton Acres . Road markings and surface in a poor condition, no signs on the road that a cycle route crosses here. Visibility of speed traffic is very poor due to curvature of the road (traffic trave ... [more]
Newly laid dropped kerb which has been laid flush with both sides for a change! To be part of Route 5.
Recently widened path between Compton Acres tram stop and Ascott Garden - Route 5 bears left here. Behind the sign the path is a split level path, and this is the only path in West Bridgford where the cycle track is the higher side - guara ... [more]
Some obvious brain fade went on at this part of the cycle route - the path doesn't line up with itself, tight 90 degree bends, pedestrian only crossing, tram tracks on the desire line.... If any thought had been put into this you could hav ... [more]
Good job chaps, you've built a tram stop bypass so passengers and passing cyclists don't get in one another's way. Wait what, that's not allowed - we need to install a conflict-causing barrier quick sharp! Grr, one of the few tram stops w ... [more]
A couple of years on from #65099 , path now fully surfaced and fencing removed. As per previous photo you want to go right here...
Barriers removed from the southern cycle corridor near the Beckett School - still showing the scars caused by the obstruction months later!
